• Lymphangiogram, which uses a contrast dye injected into the feet to highlight the lymphatic system . The dye
will stay within the pelvic and abdominal lymph nodes for many months or years, during which the disease can
be followed by simple x-rays of the abdomen.
• Bone x-rays and/or bone scan if there are tender bony areas.
• After injection of the isotope gallium, scanning may reveal "hot spots" indicating areas of HD.
Endoscopy and Biopsy
• Bone marrow biopsy to look for the presence of Hodgkin's disease.
• Biopsy of an enlarged lymph node.
• Surgical exploration of the abdomen (laparotomy) with removal of the spleen (splenectomy) may be needed to
evaluate any hidden disease that could influence the choice of treatment.
